These processes of transformation to various elements within the environment occur over a long period of time. The stones, wood etc all not only change in aesthetic qualities over time but there qualities of strength etc also erodes. The elements within the space - wind, tides, waves etc all impact on the elements.
Growth also occurs over time, vegetation, grass, organisms, seaweed etc also change qualities.
The contrast in time, with this sort of transformation occurring over a long period of time is extremely contrasted with the day to day transformations that occur in the area.
