- Senses associated with the retail experience:
Sight: Way product is displayed, colour, materiality, aesthetics, layout
Hearing: road works - but normally music, other shoppers, footsteps, door opening, road noise
Taste: possibly tastes surrounding ritual of shopping - coffee, lunch, previous meal before hand
Touch: materiality or surfaces, tactility of garments, picking up product, looking through look book
Smell: materials, coffee, street + road smells
- Materiality of store: exposing existing materials gives context, framing, concrete, wood (including
ECNZ certified MDF panels), glass, raw steel, hemp, conflict of raw materials with garments - surfaces, make sure it doesnt catch on material
- Carry sizes 8,10,12,14 and sometimes 16. 3-4 of each size in each garment.
Other important notations:
- Storage, storage of packaging, storage of shoes/shoe boxes, storage of excess stock
- Signage, window display
- Desk, point of sale
- Creating a retail 'experience' - memories, sanctuary, warmth
- Display of garments and stock, depth of shelving, heights of garment racks
- Fitting rooms
