It is a phrase that is used so freely in society and I felt I needed to get a grasp on the term, the use of it today, a philosophical perspective, and the evolution of the concept.
The New Zealand Ministry of The Environment states, "Sustainability is often perceived as a complex concept to understand and it can be hard for businesses to discover the benefits it offers. In essence, sustainability is about meeting the needs of today, without adversely impacting on the needs of tomorrow. As a term it can be applied across a range of areas, such as the environment, the society and the economy."

2. Environmental Science. the quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance: The committee is developing sustainability standards for products that use energy.

After my endless brainstorms I brought some key ideas into one brainstorm, to clarify my ideas and establish some key words and concepts to work with.
