Exploring through lines

I have been further designing through research, discovery and explorations. I have undertaken various forms of exploring, through drawing and model making and through this I have been able to explore new forms which I can further develop.

I have been looking into some of the lines and mark making and created this model. I felt the simplicity of this really worked in comparasion to the 'tree' looking this I explored previously which was a direct idea taken from my parti model.

It has been important through designing and exploring various forms that I am considering the body and the body's interaction with the form and structure and this concept of the body conversing with the space is important to my overall conceptual foothold for this assignment.

I divided the body up into three sections to analyze and to kept into consideration how the body would converse with the space. This took into action the senses as well and how these would play a part in the experience.

In relation to a space between two, the concept I have been exploring, the hands and arms fit as the middle section between. The hands and arms are an important part of a retail experience as products are able to be touched to gain a material experience.

The arms and the movements they make map the space in the same way the legs do walking around the space. These movements act as a facilitating dialogue in the way the body in having a 'conversation' an conversing with the space. This interaction and engagement is occurring and the arms in particular drive the thought processes from the individual to the hands on experience.

In relating this to my explorations, I have explored framing these movements, putting a focus on them and creating 'temporary boundaries. I have explored different levels, taking into account retail eye level for product is often around 1550mm, so it is often benefical for product to be displayed at this level. However I have tried to take this further in exploring lines and forms which work and bound all three sections of the body that I have been working with.

Three has been become a common theme in creating a space between two. I am constantly finding new relationships through lines, structures and forms which influence the way the body moves and engages with the space.
